The Madison County Cemetery Commission has worked long and hard to preserve and refurbish many of the pioneer cemeteries in the county. Their website gives you the location, history, family lists, and photographs of the cemeteries throughout the Madison County area. The Commission has shared their database, which contains over 70,000 names, with the Historical Society. For family researchers, this is a resource that can be used to find grave sites of ancestors buried in Madison County. The site is divided into townships, making your search even easier. Almost all of cemeteries now have GPS coordinates, thus, finding a pioneer cemetery is a snap if you are unfamiliar with the county roads and their locations.
